September is only a couple of weeks away and it will bring to Dunedin two important events: the rugby and Celebrate Hidden Dunedin festival.
While most of you know what the hype is about the rugby (there is a cup up for grabs), many of you may not know much about Celebrate Hidden Dunedin.
When visitors are talking about Dunedin the main tourist attractions that jump to mind are the big three: Speight’s, Cadbury’s and Tairoa Head Albatross Colony. These three attractions are all fantastic drawcards for Dunedin, but Dunedin has plenty more on offer for visitors and locals alike.
It is this message that Celebrate Hidden Dunedin intends to deliver to visitors. Running from September 1 to October 30, the Celebrate Hidden Dunedin festival highlights the attractions that don’t have the resources and exposure that the big guys have, but are unique and integral to the flavour of Dunedin.
Tasty Tours is proud to be supporting the festival with a series of three tours running throughout September and early October in addition to our regular programme.
The Gourmet Beer and BBQ Taster: A fantastic way to spend an afternoon. Enjoy a generous tasting of Greenman beers followed by a traditional kiwi BBQ. If you attend on a game night, we can drop you right to the Forsyth Barr Stadium
The Fashion, Spa, Wine and Food Taster: This one is designed for the ladies. Enjoy an afternoon of fashion, food and relaxation. A visit to two local fashion and accessory designers, Salisbury Boutique and Tamsin Cooper Studios, is complimented by Silk Body, specialising in natural silk clothing. The remainder of the afternoon is spent relaxing with a treatment at Erban Spa and wine and canapés at Rhubarb in Roslyn. An additional two-course dinner, with included glass of wine, at Luna can be added to the tour for a small additional cost. This magnificent restaurant offers fantastic views over the city and harbour as you enjoy high quality food and atmosphere.
Hidden Treasures of Dunedin – Flavour and Fashion: Enjoy a trip to some hidden gems of Dunedin when you head out of the main city and visit Outram, Green Island and Mosgiel on this fashion and food tour. Beginning at mid-day this tour includes lunch at an iconic country town café, before a fashion and beauty experience and finishing with a tasting of unique New Zealand made liqueurs and a gorgeous glass of Central Otago wine. There is a reason we named this tour ‘Hidden Treasures’ – let us help you discover these concealed riches.
Check out the individual tour pages for the dates these tours are running.
Celebrate Hidden Dunedin runs from September 1 to October 30, so whether you are a local or world traveller take the time this September to Celebrate the Hidden Dunedin.
